Dr. Kayla provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management with an approach that is direct, calm, and easy to understand. Most appointments are provided by telehealth across Colorado, with limited in-person availability in Denver.

Dr. Kayla knows that psychiatric care can involve a lot of unfamiliar language, medication decisions, and uncertainty. She takes time to explain what she is considering and why rather than expecting patients to already understand the process.
Appointments look at symptoms in the context of everyday life—sleep, routines, work or school, relationships, stress, health history, previous treatment, and what you actually want to improve.
The goal is not to make treatment feel complicated. It is to give you enough information to understand your options and take an active role in deciding what comes next.
Dr. Kayla’s training combines advanced psychiatric education with a nursing background that emphasizes assessment, patient education, and ongoing clinical care.

The person behind the provider matters too. Dr. Kayla’s experiences inside and outside healthcare have shaped the kind of practice she wanted Honeybee to become.
Dr. Kayla has worked in a range of healthcare and mental health settings in both the United States and Australia. Those experiences exposed her to different approaches to psychiatric care and helped shape her preference for smaller, more connected outpatient care.
She grew up in coastal California and now lives in Colorado with her family. When she is not seeing patients, she enjoys baking, hiking, Pilates, and spending time with family.
Patients may come in with an existing diagnosis, questions about medication, or symptoms they are still trying to understand.
When medication is being considered, Dr. Kayla talks through what it may help with, how long it may take to notice a difference, common side effects, and what would make the plan worth changing.
Review symptoms, health history, previous medications, other treatments, preferences, and safety considerations.
Discuss why a medication is being considered and what improvement would realistically look like.
Follow mood, anxiety, sleep, focus, energy, side effects, and how you are actually functioning day to day.
Change the dose, medication, or overall approach when the current plan is not helping enough or creates problems.
You do not need to prepare a perfect explanation of what has been happening. The first appointment is designed to help organize the pieces and figure out what deserves a closer look.
Discuss symptoms, changes you have noticed, what has been difficult, and what you would most like help with.
Review health history, medications, sleep, previous treatment, stress, work or school, relationships, and other factors that may matter.
Talk through diagnostic impressions, medication considerations, therapy or referrals when useful, and what follow-up may look like.
Dr. Kayla generally works with patients ages 8 through 40. What matters during an appointment can look very different depending on age, independence, family involvement, and what is happening outside the appointment.
Parents or caregivers may be part of the evaluation, with attention to home life, school, development, sleep, behavior, and what different adults are noticing.
Care may involve school or college demands, changing independence, relationships, sleep, anxiety, mood, focus, and learning how to manage treatment more independently.
Appointments may focus on work, relationships, parenting, stress, sleep, medication questions, changing routines, and symptoms that are affecting everyday functioning.
Dr. Kayla also works with mental health concerns that may intersect with pregnancy planning, postpartum changes, hormones, parenting, caregiving, burnout, and other life transitions.
